ANGLICAN BISHOP OF NSUKKA DIOCESE PAYS COURTESY VISIT TO FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC OHODO, PLEDGES SUPPORT

In a demonstration of goodwill and commitment to institutional collaboration, the Bishop of the Diocese of Nsukka, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), His Lordship, The Rt. Rev. Dr. Aloysius Eze Agbo, on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the Rector of Federal Polytechnic Ohodo, Enugu State, Dr. Ediri Emmanuel Agada, at the Rector’s Office.

During the visit, the Bishop congratulated the Rector and other Principal Officers on their appointments and formally welcomed the Rector to the Nsukka community. He assured the Management of the Diocese’s prayers, goodwill and readiness to partner with the Polytechnic in advancing quality education and youth development. He also requested the allocation of a temporary place of worship for Anglican faithful within the Institution and appealed for the eventual provision of land for the construction of a chapel by the Diocese.

The Bishop further informed the Management of the forthcoming National Youth Conference of the Diocese, with its opening ceremony scheduled for Thursday, August 6, 2026, and invited the Polytechnic to participate, noting that the event would also provide an opportunity to showcase and promote the Institution to a wider audience. As a mark of support and encouragement, the Bishop presented a copy of the Holy Bible and other gifts to the Rector.

Responding, the Rector, Dr. Ediri Emmanuel Agada, expressed profound appreciation to the Bishop and his entourage for the visit and the goodwill extended to the Institution. He disclosed that the Management had initially already concluded arrangements to pay a courtesy visit to the Bishop and his Diocese. The Rector reaffirmed the Polytechnic’s commitment to building strategic partnerships with critical stakeholders and appealed to the Diocese to support the Institution’s ongoing admission drive through sustained publicity and advocacy. He also highlighted Management’s deliberate efforts to reposition the Polytechnic, including its extensive admission sensitisation roadshows and other initiatives aimed at increasing students’ enrolment.

In his remarks, the Registrar, Dr. Obini Onuchukwu, underscored the enormous academic and financial opportunities available to prospective students of the Polytechnic. He noted that Federal Polytechnic Ohodo is a fully NBTE-accredited Federal Institution offering several market-driven programmes at both National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) levels, with additional opportunities in Part-time and Remedial studies. He explained that, through the Federal Government’s NELFUND Student Loan Scheme and the Institution’s very affordable tuition, many eligible students can pursue their education with little or no financial burden, making quality technical and vocational education more accessible than ever. He further highlighted the Polytechnic’s strong emphasis on character development, practical entrepreneurship training, and industry-relevant skills acquisition, thus encouraging parents and prospective students to take advantage of the Institution’s unique opportunities and conducive learning environment.

Delivering the vote of thanks, the Deputy Rector and Director of Academic Planning, Dr. Cornelius Ogayi, appreciated the Bishop and his delegation for identifying with the Polytechnic. He expressed optimism that the cordial relationship initiated by the visit would blossom into a fruitful and enduring partnership between the Diocese and the Polytechnic.

The Bishop was accompanied on the visit by Principal Officers of the Diocese, who are senior clergy of the Anglican Communion, alongside other dignitaries. Also in attendance were the Principal Officers and other Management staff of the Polytechnic, who joined the Rector in receiving the distinguished visitors.
