    FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC OHODO HOLDS 3RD MATRICULATION CEREMONY

    Federal Polytechnic Ohodo, Enugu State (FEDPOD), on Friday, May 22, 2026, held its 3rd Matriculation Ceremony, formally admitting newly enrolled students into the institution.

    The ceremony which took place at the Polytechnic field of the Institution was presided over by the Rector, Dr. Ediri Emmanuel Agada, alongside members of Management, Deans, Directors, Heads of Academic and Non-academic Departments, Staff, the leadership of Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) and Non-Teaching Staff Union of Polytechnics (NOTSUP), the Students’ Union Government (SUG), Students, parents, and guardians.

    Among the dignitaries present were Hon. Livinus Asogwa, FEDPOD Governing Council Member and Ohodo Community Rep-in-Council; the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), Prof. Simon Ortuanya, represented by the Director of Academic Planning, Prof. Anthony Amaechi Attamah; the Registrar of UNN, Dr. Celine Ngozi Nebedum and her entourage; Hon. Harrison Ogara, Member representing Igbo-Eze South State Constituency in the Enugu State House of Assembly; and His Royal Highness, Igwe Barr. David Asogwa, Igwe of Ohodo Autonomous Community.

    Also in attendance were notable clergymen, including Venerable Prof. Nnaemeka Chukwuma, Rev. Father Dr. Emmanuel Nwaeze, Rev. Canon Nnaemeka Ezike, and Rev. Rowland Iheanaero.

    In his matriculation address, the Rector congratulated the matriculating students and urged them to remain disciplined, focused, and committed to academic excellence and character development. He emphasized the Polytechnic’s dedication to quality technical and vocational education, while highlighting recent academic achievements of the institution, including the accreditation of additional National Diploma and Higher National Diploma programmes by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).

    Dr. Ediri further reiterated the institution’s zero tolerance for cultism, examination malpractice, drug abuse, violence, and other anti-social behaviours, encouraging students to make productive use of the opportunities available to them.

    The Rector also called for sustained support from government and stakeholders towards infrastructural development of the Polytechnic, particularly the construction of the access road leading to the institution’s permanent site, as was graciously promised by the Executive Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, during a recent courtesy visit by the Polytechnic leadership to the Governor.

    The epoch-making event featured the administration of the matriculation oath on the students by the Registrar, Dr. Obini Onuchukwu.

    Briefing newsmen at the end of the matriculation ceremony, some of the matriculated students delightfully expressed their appreciation to the Management of the Polytechnic for the opportunity to pursue their academic aspirations at the institution, while pledging to remain focused and law-abiding throughout their studentship.

    The event concluded with goodwill messages and renewed optimism towards the continued growth and development of the Polytechnic.
